The Esther Dankwah Foundation in The Netherlands has made a request to support the Sekondi School for the Deaf near Takoradi. During one of her recent visits to Ghana, Esther became aware that the boarded children do not have sufficient facilities in their housing situation. She started a campaign in the Netherlands to raise funds to purchase a hundred mattresses, to be donated to the children. These are now available. The Help Ghana Foundation was eager to step in and assist in both the purchase and the transportation to Takoradi.

Esther is a very committed counterpart and we wholly subscribe to her initiative. The School for the Deaf has a total student population of 400 comprising 185 boys and 215 girls. The school has a Nursery, Primary and Junior High School, and it takes part in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
