After the previous activities in collaboration with Lakeside Disabled in Dambai (VR, see completed projects) and the Orthopedic Training Center in Nsawam (see completed projects), funds have been made available to support individual young people through an operation. These will be performed by Dutch surgeons who regularly visit Ghana. In 2019, our contact person Esther Dankwah visited Ghana and identified special needs children who qualify. Here Esther visits the young (deaf) Osman Hawa in her school. We also make sure that the parents can travel with them to the OTC, if those costs are not paid, many families are hesitant to have an operation performed. However, a simple intervention can often radically change their lives. Meanwhile the patients are awaiting the arrivial of the Dutch volunteer surgeons, who had to cancel because of the pandemic. The remaining unused funds for surgery were donated to the Nsawam OTC day care centre, where children are collected from their homes to receive dedicated physiotherapy at the centre.
