For more than 25 years, the Matthew25 House provides access to palliative care and other health care services in Koforidua. The target group of this non-governmental organization mostly consists of people affected by HIV/AIDS, but also orphans and vulnerable children. Through its service, the Matthew25 House aims to allow its patients a comfortable, peaceful and dignified end of life.
To optimize the quality of the palliative care it provides, in 2014 the Matthew25 House started with the construction of a hospice facility, consisting of – among others – a centre with 24 bedrooms. Yet, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, receiving sufficient donations from fundraisers was challenging. The continuation of the project therefore faced difficulties.
Thanks to Joke Addotey, founder of the Help Ghana foundation, Help Ghana received an application for assistance in the Matthew25 project. Due to a generous donation from Joke herself, Help Ghana was able to support the construction of the hospice with € 3393. This money is now being used for the purchase and placement of toilet bowls and sinks.
