We’re excited to share another meaningful collaboration, this time to assist the Compassionate Kids School in Adawso, Eastern Region. In September, we were contacted by Coco Schouten, who manages a hostel in Ghana, with an offer of free, secondhand solar panels provided by SEGRO, a construction building company. Our local partner, Emmanuel, the head of C4H, expressed interest in using the solar panels to help reduce the electricity costs for his school.

The solar panels will be used to generate electricity and store energy in batteries for use during the regular power outings or at night. This will provide reliable power for essential needs, such as room fans and computers in classrooms, as well as maintaining the operation of a deep freezer. In addition, Emmanuel plans to involve young electricians from the community in the installation process, giving them hands-on experience with solar energy and an opportunity to learn about its practical applications.

Emmanuel has teamed up with Lennart Becking, a Dutch teacher, to drive this solar panel project forward. Lennart’s students have actively participated in this project, and their fundraising efforts have been instrumental in covering a large portion of the costs of transport and installation. They’ve done an outstanding job in raising the necessary funds!

In total, 40 solar panels will be shipped to Ghana to support the school’s energy needs. A heartfelt thank you to Coco Schouten, whose pivotal role in facilitating the logistics of shipping the solar panels from the Netherlands to Ghana has been invaluable.

It is exciting to see so many different partners putting effort in this project to make it work!
