We’re excited to share the completed solar panel project at the Compassionate Kids School in Adawso, Eastern Region. In total, 33 panels were transported to Ghana. Due to the technical complexity, the panels were installed by a certified installation company and are now fully operational. On sunny days, they generate enough electricity to cover the school’s needs.

The project was made possible through close collaboration between many partners: Emmanuel Nkrumah, our country manager, guided the local implementation; Lennart Becking and his students in the Netherlands contributed actively through fundraising and project support; and SEGRO, together with Coco Schouten, facilitated the donation and shipment of the solar panels from the Netherlands. Their combined efforts were instrumental in covering the transport and installation costs and bringing the project to fruition.

The installation significantly reduces reliance on the local power grid, and in the future the addition of a battery could further help the school become fully independent of the Ghanaian electricity network.

It’s wonderful to see so many partners — locally and internationally — collaborating to make a meaningful impact on the school and the community.
